Privacy policy

We collect as little data as possible. This page tells you all of it.

The app

  • The app sends no data about your scores to us or to other people.
  • The app checks your license key on your Mac. Activation sends nothing to a server.
  • The update check sends the app version and the macOS version to modaljazz.com. It sends nothing that identifies you.

Purchases

Paddle.com takes the payment as the merchant of record. Paddle keeps your payment data; we never see your card number. Read the Paddle privacy notice.

When you buy, Paddle sends us your name, your address, and your email address. We use them only to make and send your license key.

For each license we keep:

  • your email address,
  • a license ID,
  • the end date of the update period,
  • the Paddle transaction ID.

We do not keep your name or your address.

We use your email address only to send license keys, renewal keys, and lost-key codes. We do not send marketing email, and we do not sell your data.

Who handles your data

We share your data only as this list shows:

  • Paddle takes your payment. When you renew, we send your license ID to Paddle, so that the renewal goes on the correct license.
  • Netlify hosts this website and keeps its server logs.
  • Our web functions make license keys, check renewals, and send lost-key codes. They keep the license records that this page lists.
  • An email service sends license keys and lost-key codes to your email address.
  • Fastmail keeps the email that you send to our support address.

Each of these services uses your data only to do this work for us.

Security

We keep your data secure. If a breach puts your data at risk, we tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

The website

This website uses no cookies and no tracking scripts. The web host keeps normal server logs for a short time, for security.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it. Write to support@modaljazz.com. If we delete your license record, we cannot send your key again.
